On April 26th, 2022, the CNCA hosted a press conference at Canada’s National Press Gallery in Ottawa with members of Parliament from across political lines, who are calling for comprehensive corporate accountability laws in Canada.
The speakers included:

- MP Peter Julian, New Westminster-Burnaby
- MP Elizabeth May, Saanich-Gulf Islands
- MP Heather McPherson, Edmonton Strathcona
- MP Simon-Pierre Savard-Tremblay, Saint-Hyacynthe-Bagot
- Emily Dwyer, Policy Director, Canadian Network on Corporate Accountability
On April 27th, the CNCA held a virtual roundtable with human rights defenders from Zambia, Ecuador and Bangladesh on why such legislation is urgently needed.
The participants included three well-known human rights defenders:
- Kalpona Akter, Director, Bangladesh Center for Worker Solidarity (Bangladesh)
- Reverend Emmanuel Chikoya, General Secretary, Council of Churches of Zambia (Zambia)
- Josefina Tunki, President, Shuar Arutam People (PSHA) (Ecuador)
All parties agreed on the need for comprehensive corporate accountability laws in Canada.
The CNCA urges the government to enact mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence legislation.
